Wallpaper repair
Arlington Heights mansion
We had previously done some painting for this client and were called out to do a wallpaper repair in the dining room. The wallpaper had been installed just a few years ago by another contractor yet it was lifting off in multiple areas, some very large.
Almost all of the seams were compromised and it was clear from the beginning that, even with a great repair job, there would be an obvious gap between most seams that would show the white paint that lies underneath the wallpaper. The lifted areas of the seams had curled and shrunk making it impossible to connect two panels of wallpaper back together.
Since this was the client’s second home and they would not be in town for an extended time, they decided to continue with the 1-day repair instead of opting for a complete wallpaper removal and painting or re-wallpapering.
After repasting and smoothing, the room looked great! All the lifted paper was secure and looked professional again. We love looking professional but we strive for perfection so we applied a staining technique to the exposed paint at the seams.
When the job was complete, you would never guess that there was ever an issue with the wallpaper in that dining room.
